In July this year, my beautiful sister Liv (Livvy) passed away at just 23. Losing her has changed my world forever, and I've been trying to find ways to honour her life, her spirit, and the places she loved most.

There is a spot on Newport/Bungan Headland—a two-minute walk from our family home—where Liv spent countless hours. She would go there to listen to music, watch the sunset, look for whales, and sit under the rising moon. Earlier this year, she even saw the aurora there. It was her space to breathe, to feel calm, and to feel connected.

My family and I would love to install a public memorial bench at this exact place, with a plaque honouring Liv. It’s something the Northern Beaches Council allows, but the cost is close to $6,000—more than we can manage on our own.

This bench would be a place not only for my family and I but for anyone who walks that headland and wants to sit, reflect, and find peace. A place where friends, family, and strangers alike can feel Liv’s presence in the wind and the ocean she loved so much. We will also be spreading some of her ashes here, as she requested before she died.
