Liuwa Legends: 100KM Run for Conservation

Donation protected
Help us turn 100KM run into 100,000€ worth of lasting impact with African Parks.

THE WHAT?

This September, we—Floris, Fiona, and Charlotte—will take on the challenge of running 100km in 2 days across the breathtaking, yet unforgiving landscapes of Liuwa Plain National Park, in Zambia.

The Liuwa Ultra-Trail isn’t just a race. It’s a test of endurance, resilience, and spirit.

With only drinking water provided, we must be entirely self-sufficient, carrying our own food and navigation tools as we face a 100 kilometre challenge.

Running across the same plains where lions, buffalos, cheetah roam, we’ll be pushing our limits in one of Africa’s last great wildernesses—but this is about more than just endurance.

THE "WHY"?

We’re running for Friso—our partner, brother, and friend—who passed away last summer.

Friso cared deeply about protecting Africa’s wild places. He believed that conservation wasn’t just about wildlife, but about restoring balance, protecting ecosystems, and giving future generations the chance to experience the same beauty he loved so much.

He was especially inspired by the work of African Parks, whose mission it is to manage and restore protected areas across the continent. Their commitment to long-term conservation, local empowerment, and real, lasting impact lit a fire in him—and through this run, it burns in us too.

This 100km challenge is our way of carrying that torch. It's a tribute to Friso’s vision, his spirit, and his passion for Africa. It’s a call to protect the landscapes he held close to his heart. Every step we take is for something bigger: ensuring that parks like Liuwa continue to thrive thanks to African Parks.

ABOUT AFRICAN PARKS:

African Parks is a non-profit conservation organisation that takes on direct responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term management of protected areas across Africa, in partnership with governments and local communities. Currently, they manage 23 protected areas in 13 countries covering over 20 million hectares.

The funds we raise will all be directed to Liuwa Plains, a national park managed by African Parks, to support their pursuit of creating real, lasting conservation impact.
