Liuda's Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, family and friends! We are the children and grandchildren of a loving, wonderful, kind, and giving woman named Liuda. She is our only mother and grandmother.
About Liuda
Just six years ago, after thirty-five years of marriage, Liuda lost her husband (our father and grandfather), to a heart attack. A few years before this tragedy they had immigrated to the United States. They had left almost everything behind in hopes of providing a better life for their two children (Roman and Yulia). She was left alone in a new country with very little but makes the best of every single day.
Liuda enjoys very simple things like cooking and gardening. Her home is always welcome to anyone, she is an altruistic person and likes helping people.

More than anything, Luda loves and adores her four very young granddaughters (6, 4.5, 4, and 2 years old), and they love their only grandma more than you can imagine.

Liuda never asks anyone for help, but now she truly is in need. We are raising money to help pay for some of her enormous medical bills and living expenses while she battles Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer.
The Cancer Diagnosis
Mom went to her family doctor with complaints of coughing and tightness in her chest and thought it could be pneumonia. The Doctor said he did not hear anything in her lungs that would point to pneumonia and refused to order a Chest X-Ray. She had to argue with the Doctor and finally got him to order the X-Ray.
The Doctor put her on antibiotics to treat “pneumonia.” She wasn’t getting better, and soon after she had to go to the emergency room because her blood pressure skyrocketed.
Emergency Room doctors ordered a CT scan of her chest. This scan showed her “pneumonia“ got worse since the first X-Ray, and that there is fluid around her lungs (Pleural Effusion).
The Emergency Room Doctor drained the fluid from around her lungs and cleared her to take an already planned vacation.
While she was on vacation, her children received horrifying results from the Doctor. The fluid that was drained from her lungs contains cancer cells, and she needed to go to the Oncologist immediately.
After more CT scans, The University of Kansas Hospital has diagnosed Liuda with Stage 4 Metastasized Ovarian Cancer..
The Treatment
The University of Kansas will begin treating her with a combination of two Chemotherapy infusions over many weeks.
After this, they will run more scans to determine the next best steps, which will include surgery and possibly more Chemotherapy.
