Emergency Surgery for Little Vinny

Donation protected

My name is TJ. I am a foster/rescue parent that helps take in pups from high kill shelters and helps find them forever loving homes. We rescued Little Vinny and his beautiful sister Daisy just 3 weeks ago, on their last day to be released before euthanasia. Vinny was, and still is, a frightened boy as he was neglected, used shamelessly as a backyard breeding dog, and treated poorly.

Last week, Vinny was rescued by his forever Mom and was just getting used to his new life, but still very afraid of loud noises and quick movements. While on a walk 2 days ago, in Old Town Alexandria, Vinny heard a loud motorcycle backfire and it scared him enough that when he pulled away, he slipped from his harness and ran. Old Town is a very busy area with a lot of traffic and noise. All of the commotions made him keep running scared.

In the midst of his panic, Vinny was unfortunately struck by a car and found 2.5 miles away from where he slipped away from his mom, and was rushed to an ER by a Good Samaritan. After the x-rays and ultrasounds; Vinny suffered a broken leg in 3 places and road rash on his belly, chin, and arms. Thankfully this was not fatal

After the Doctors at Veterinary Orthopedic Sports Medicine (VOSM) in Annapolis Junction, MD reviewed the images, they have determined that Vinny now requires surgery to insert a metal plate into his leg. Since the fracture has spiraled, natural rest and splinting won’t heal his bone properly. This poor little baby has had such a rough life and has already endured far more pain and suffering than any animal should.

His mom and I don’t have the funds to pay for the surgery and he is due to go in next week. The pre-surgery vet bills have already exceeded $2,000, and have been paid by Vinny's mom. Now the surgery will cost $3500. We would love nothing more than to get Vinny back up and running around, and getting the chance to learn how life should be lived as a free puppy in a good home. Something he has never experienced before. Without the surgery, we’re not certain how he will recover and if he will be 100% again. If you can contribute even the smallest donation, we would all be more than grateful. Thank you very much for your time and God bless you for your consideration!
