We are all familiar with the classic rock comedy musical, Little Shop of Horrors which takes place inside the fictional Mushnik & Son’s Flower Shop on Skid Row in New York City. It’s not just popular within the film and theater industries, but also amongst florists and botanists worldwide. But connecting the two worlds has never been done before - until now. The show will be presented in the charming Bool’s Flower Shop in the heart of Ithaca, New York, with performances from April 24-28, 2019, produced solely by college students.
In the summer of 2018, Lead Producer Jacob Stuckelman reached out to Doreen Culver-Foss, the owner of the flower shop, with the idea to present Little Shop of Horrors inside Bool’s Flower Shop. The shop has been providing Ithaca with their services since 1894 and has been named “Ithaca’s Best Flower Shop” by several local journalists. This year marks the shop’s 125th anniversary and we are excited to celebrate with them. After months of meetings and discussions, Bool’s is on board, our creative team is up and running, and we are ready to make this idea become a reality.
To make this production happen, we need $18,000. This production is taking place in a non-theatrical venue, meaning, there are no prior resources to help us bring this production to life. This production is entirely self-produced.
The future of this project is up to you. The more support you put into this project, the better the costumes, set design, lighting design, and properties. Bool’s Flower Shop is the beginning of our amazing journey into the world of site-specific theater. This production is taking place in a non-theatrical venue, meaning, there are no prior resources to help us bring this production to life. As a result, we need $18,000 to make this production happen.
