Help Geillis Find Her Legs!

Hello!
My name is Geillis (Gae-less/Gae-lesh). It’s Celtic! And It means “Bright and Shiny” which suits me very well if I do say so myself. But if I’m being honest, my humans actually just call me Gelly Bean (Jelly Bean) because I’m just so itty bitty and adorable. I am an eight week old chihuahua puppy with so much life ahead of me!
My humans rescued me on January 30th 2022. They were told that there was some weakness in my legs and that I was getting stronger every day and would be able to recover in “no time”. However that was not the case. At this point I have been with my new humans for almost two days and I already love them so much!
But why do I need fundraiser help?
I was born with a birth defect that makes it very hard for me to walk. My vet says that condition is likely Congenital Medial Patellar Luxation. Which I guess basically means that my knee caps don’t really fit in my little legs so I’m a bit awkward on my feet. But it doesn’t hurt! Which is awesome! Because I’m full of so much life and spunk. But it is a little frustrating that I can’t stand up the way I want to. I really wish I was a normal puppy because I want to play and run and jump on my much larger my house mates. And I know I won’t ever be a “normal puppy” but I do need help to make things a little easier for me. And because my legs don’t really work, my front legs are being affected and it’s causing them to turn outward due to the pressure I’m putting on them when I want to move around. If I don’t get it fixed my condition could get worse and lead to progressive limb deformities and arthritis in my knees and hips.
I’m in need of getting radiographs and blood work done as well as multiple surgeries to make it better. It’s going to be a long battle for me and for everyone involved but I know I can, we can do it, because I have a strong fighting spirit and I want to have every opportunity to live a long fulfilling life. At this time, because I’m still growing I can’t have the big surgeries until my growth plates close and my bones reach skeletal deformity, says my incredible vet.
But! But! But! My vet says I can have a possibly two small surgeries before that, to sort of put a bandaid on until I they can fix my legs when I am older.
The overall cost of my surgeries and health care could be potentially over $10,000, and then there is the after care; such as physical therapy, hydro therapy and holistic approaches such as chiropractic and massage etc.
Sadly the condition is pre existing and my insurance won’t cover it. So my humans and I are asking for help to aide me in reaching my full potential!
Please consider donating and sharing my cause as I, we, will need all the help we can get!
A huge thank you from our family to yours!
