LITTLE YUFFIE
Our 2-year-old tabby cat, Yuffie, was recently diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition called auricular chondritis. This illness has caused severe swelling and thickening of her ear tissue that has led to the deformation of her right ear, as well as the deeper portion of her ear canal.
This is a painful disease that affects her hearing and quality of life. Before this diagnosis, Yuffie was a happy and playful cat. But because of her condition, she has turned into an anxious and withdrawn kitty, who has to rely on Gabapentin (pain meds) to manage the discomfort.
After 6 months, 3 clinics, many vet visits, and trying a slew of medications, her vet has finally recommended that the best possible step to alleviate her pain is to undergo surgery.
SURGERY & TREATMENT
To get rid of all the diseased tissue, Yuffie needs to undergo two surgeries to remove her ear flap (pinnectomy) and her ear canal (TECA or total ear canal ablation).
With these surgeries, Yuffie will lose her right ear completely, but she will hopefully regain her joy and her playfulness.
The clinic has quoted us over $9,000 for the procedures, which we sadly cannot afford on our own. Any contribution or support that you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
