Hello friends of Neshaminy, and musical lovers!
Our amazing music department at Neshaminy High School has found a way to Covid-safely put on this year's musical performance of "Little Shop of Horrors" {insert Suddenly Seymour song here}! While the plan is set and casting has begun, there are some financial roadblocks we need to address to make it happen. Due to the pandemic, the musical budget has been cut and is almost completely non-existent which is sad, but also totally understandable { insert: Downtown....
Where the folks are broke...}.
To give you an idea of the costs involved: A majority of the show is supported through our ticket sales (which isn't happening this year, as we will be filming and providing for free!). That means that masks, props, sets, costumes, lighting rental, body mic repairs/expenses, pit musicians, rental and royalties for the shows, etc. all come out of the musical account...{insert crickets chirping here to represent our teeny tiny account} Needless to say, even for a show that will be filmed and limited to a very small cast, there are a lot of little expenses that add up.
All of that being said, our biggest must-have to make the performance truly magical is the Mean Green Mother from Outer Space... THE AUDREY II. We are working hard to be able to rent the Audrey II puppets from an absolutely amazing company in Horsham, Pa called Monkey Boy Productions. The company is already giving us an awesome deal - the puppets cost $1,500 to rent each week (a minimum two-week rental is required to make sure the kiddos learn how to operate the phenomenal creation), and a $1,000 deposit is needed as well. So that is why we have set a goal of $4,000. If we can get this, we can make this dream come true for some very excited students and staff....
