Help Support Little Rowan and His Family Through This Unexpected Battle

On Saturday, October 4th, what started as what seemed to be a simple stomach bug for 2-year-old Rowan quickly turned into something no parent could ever prepare for. After about 24 hours of not feeling well, his parents noticed something was very wrong — Rowan wasn’t acting like himself and could no longer hold himself up. They immediately took him to Greenwood ER, where doctors ran several tests before deciding he needed to be transferred to Greenville Children’s Hospital for more advanced care.

Once at Greenville, more tests were done, including an MRI, X-rays, EKG, EEG a CT scan and multiple blood test. Late Monday night, the devastating results came in — Rowan had suffered multiple strokes. Doctors also discovered blood clots on his brain. He was quickly moved to the PICU, where the medical team is now working tirelessly to shrink and remove the clots.

In addition to the strokes and clots, Rowan is also fighting an infection that requires IV antibiotics. His hemoglobin levels have dropped, and he has already had to receive a blood transfusion, with the possibility of more to come. Right now, the biggest concern is getting the blood clots under control. Once that happens, his care team will develop a long-term plan for treatment and recovery.

Through all of this, Rowan’s parents have been by his side every moment. Their older son, 4-year-old Rhett, is staying with his grandparents in Saluda while they focus on Rowan’s care. The family is now facing long days and nights and possible weeks in the hospital, countless medical decisions, and growing expenses from travel, food, and medical bills that have already started to arrive.

I’m creating this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden on this incredible family so they can focus entirely on Rowan’s healing. Donations will go toward gas for traveling back and forth to see Rhett, meals, basic needs while staying in Greenville, and medical bills from Rowan’s ongoing care.
