We are heartbroken and grieved by the devastation that Hurricane lan brought to Florida, especially our island town of Fort Myers Beach. We are deeply saddened at the loss of our business, BUT we are thankful our Team Little Palm is safe!
Our building, along with all of our equipment and inventory, was destroyed - and the warm, inviting space we poured years of work and love into creating - was lifted off its foundation, swept 200 yards across a parking lot during the storm surge, and completely disintegrated; with debris making it to the other side of the island!
We built this business to bring good health, wellness, and positivity to our community - and succeeded! Our Cafe was recognized as one of the highest-rated restaurants on the island AND an oasis for ANYONE on FMB looking for a friendly smile, good vibes, and delicious HEALTHY VEGAN food!
In the aftermath of lan, we lost our business and investment, our place to live, two vehicles, and a full storage unit used to store our business materials, tools, and backup equipment. We returned to the island to see where Little Palm once stood. Unfortunately, nothing could be salvaged.
GOOD NEWS! This is NOT over for us!
Our Story:
Sarah, our founder, started this small business as a fruit stand within the Lani Kai Island Resort 5 years ago. Joshua came along and wrote the poetry of Sarah's ideas, and together they created something unique and special. Joshua was right by Sarah's side during the sleepless nights, the 24-hour work days, the laughter, the tears, the sacrifice, the victories, the disappointments, and the miraculous transformations as the business grew into our Little Palm family.
With your help, we will come back better than ever in SWFL, serving up the best #COFFEE, #BOWLS, #GRUB, & #VIBES!
Recovering from this catastrophic event will be lengthy and expensive. But first, we are helping family and neighbors as they also need help cleaning up. We must prioritize people first after an event like this creates a need for community and kindness!
COVID-19 couldn't stop us, and neither will Hurricane lan! Gas prices and inflation tried and failed. Hurricane Ian will NOT get the victory here!
