We are Liza Witonis and Janine Bibeau, teachers on a mission to create a learning environment for children that allows them to flourish in their natural world.
Between the two of us we have over 23 years as teachers in the public schooling system and both have a Masters in Education.
Little Otters NH is a nature based kindergarten program for four to six year olds based out of Strafford, New Hampshire.
This program will provide:
· A well balanced kindergarten curriculum
· Learning through play and exploration in nature
· Literacy, math, and social skills
· Low student/teacher ratio
· Fostering kindness, respect, resiliency and empathy
We believe so much can be learned through play and nature. This past year an opportunity presented itself to both of us as we navigated the changes in the school systems and the choice to homeschool our children. The education provided through this program is one that we believe is truly impactful to our children.
Why we need your help:
Starting in September 2021, we will be spending much of our time outdoors on Liza’s 41 acres of forest. However it will not always be reasonable or safe to be outside with the class. This is why we are asking for $7500 in donations. We will be finishing the top floor of Liza’s Barn for our indoor classroom space. Your donation will help us pay for lumber, insulation, windows, sanitary stations, an outhouse, heating source, classroom curriculum and supplies.
Why this cause means so much to us:
Children are our future. Play is integral in the process of learning and a major part of the foundation of self-empowerment. We believe in taking the best of both worlds, nature and play, to create an experience for children that will foster exploration, excitement, creativity and self-efficacy.
Any donation amount will make a difference; there is no end to the impact made when we come together to help children trust themselves and the world around them. Getting this program off the ground will have a profound impact in shaping the minds and potential for our next generation. We are beyond grateful for you.
