Little Mama Needs Our Help
Donation protected
Hi my name is Kelly and here is why I am asking you to consider donating to my Go Fund Me:
On January 10th, while traveling in the Memphis/Bartlett area for work and driving to the airport, I found myself in a really not great section at a red light. While sitting there I looked out the side window and saw a young pitbull in distress. She was trying to cross the road but clearly scared to death - pacing back and forth, head down, tail between her legs. I proceeded to pull into the parking lot behind her to see if she would at least come up to me. She did – immediately. She had a collar and it appeared she had recently given birth. I looked around with no one in sight, no one looking my way, for a dog, or wanting to help. So, I opened my car door and in she went! She just hopped right in! We drove around together asking people if she was theirs, if they knew where she belonged, etc. No one knew. We also looked around for her pups, I took her across the street to where she was trying to be, and no success.
After this went on, I realized just how thin she was, so I took her to McDonald’s. I got her some chicken tenders and water – she gobbled them up immediately. Little Mama then proceeded to move to the back seat of the car, lay down, fart, and fall asleep.
I then called anywhere I could find on Google – all the individual rescues that popped up in Memphis, the SPCA number down there, and even the cops. No one would take her! My issue was I was headed to the airport! In a last-ditch effort, I found an animal hospital. They agreed to take her and contact their local shelter after checking her for a chip (to which she had none). They agreed to keep her, feed her and hand her over to the local rescue they work with the next day.
I called the animal hospital that night to check on Little Mama (she was doing great and very comfy). I also posted her picture to the two lost pet sites Memphis has hoping her owner would be found. To this day, no such luck.
The next evening, when speaking with the animal hospital again, I learn their local rescue would not take Little Mama! The hospital then informed me that if something else was not arranged for this sweet girl (a new home, a foster, a rescue, something), she would be put down.
Well, the magic of Friends and Facebook is just incredible. I posted this story the night I learned of Little Mama's threat of euthanization and BOOM! People from all over have been calling, texting, DMing, messaging me - it's amazing. In just over 72 hours of finding this little sweetheart, we already have found two possible foster parents and so many people who want to help, donate to her cause, and support her journey to a new home.
Based on all of this love, I have contacted the veterinary practice and requested Little Mama become an official "board" and receive all her initial vaccinations and full veterinary screening. Oh, and a bath - she deserves to feel good. The plan, once her official foster is identified and set up, is for myself and best friend, Kristin to fly down to Memphis and drive Little Mama back. We are looking to do this by next weekend - that's how fast this has all turned around!
This GoFundMe page is being set up to assist in the costs for Little Mama's vet bills, the boarding, as well as getting her to her new foster home. Any amount will help.
Thank you for your consideration and kindness; the human heart and spirit have really surprised and impressed me in the last few days.
