Little Lucas Fights Leukemia

In late March, our little Lucas was sent to the hospital with pain all over his body and fluid that needed to be drained from his lung. After testing negative for covid-19 and a five-day hospital stay, Lucas was sent home with reassurance that he’d be back to full health soon. His return to the hospital three weeks later with persistent symptoms left us all terrified. A few hours after being admitted, on May 1st, Lucas was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
For those of you who don’t know him personally, Lucas is our five-year-old blonde boy – full of kisses, shy little smiles, and laughs. He’s always grumpy in the mornings and adores his two brothers, Aiden (11) and Jack (9 months). He lights up a room with his bright blue eyes, is quick-witted, and is a mama and daddy’s boy all at once. We love him dearly and are praying hard for his recovery.
Due to the circumstances surrounding the current pandemic, Lucas’ parents, Katie and Ed, are unable to spend time together at the hospital, nor is he allowed any visitors. Katie and Ed will take turns by his side as Lucas endures four weeks of chemotherapy and a potential bone marrow transplant. His treatment process will continue for the better part of two years and will be an immense emotional and financial load, but with the care he has received so far and the expertise of Roswell Park right next door, we know that Lucas will make it through.
Lucas has a long road ahead as his parents and brothers fight to bring him home, but prayers and positive thoughts will help make that road less bumpy. And if that support can extend to a donation, we will be forever grateful.
