Sat morning we woke up early to numerous spots where our Little Leila had gotten sick some time during the night. After noticing that something was very off with her personality as well, an appointment was made with the vet for that afternoon. 2 hrs at the vet and no real answers other than something was wrong with her intestines, we were sent to the ER, 30 mins away, where she was immediately admitted for more tests. Leila was suffering from "gastrointestinal obstruction" . Part of her intestines, had been failing and the good part had started to engulf the bad part to try and heal itself but it was not working.
On Sunday afternoon, our 9 month old kitten underwent surgery to correct the issue and is now currently recovering. Over the weekend there were many phone calls with the doctor, many tears from worrying and lots of discussions about what we could afford and how important Leila was to our family. In a matter of 3 days my boyfriend and I spent more money than we would over a course of a few months, every penny well spent on doing what we could to get her healthy again. Leila is only 9 months old with has so many possible years in front of her. We got Leila from a friend's litter at 8 weeks old and she goes routinely to the vet for her shots and check ups but unfortunately this was not something that could have been detected at a normal check up. During this past year of dealing with not being able to see our family and friends as often as we would like to because of COVID, Leila has been a huge part of our lives.
Every morning Leila "helps" me make my tea and get my things together for the day. We have some play time before I have to leave for work and she starts her bird watching out the window. When we get home at the end of the day, the door opens and she comes running from where ever she was at the moment to greet us and get some scratches and cuddles. From day 1 she has been very friendly to anyone that comes into the house, always up to play but also loves to cuddle and just hangout with us. Leila brings us joy everyday with her silly loving personality and we could not imagine not getting her the surgery to save her life. She has so much love left to give the world and so many more toys to play and treats to enjoy.
Any money raised through this will go towards helping us with all the medical bills that came up so suddenly on us this past weekend. The goal set on this is what we have spent so far. Every little bit helps and we are grateful to anyone who is able to help during this time.
