“Little Kyle” Harris's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
On August 11th Kyle who is 6 years old had a tragic incident, where unfortunately he drowned at a friends pool party and went into respiratory failure. He was resuscitated then hospitalized in the PICU at Albany children’s hospital. He was then placed on a ventilator for weeks. Following that he underwent surgery for a tracheostomy and g tube placement. He suffered a brain injury due to this traumatic event and was misdiagnosed with secondary dystonia due to damage to his basal ganglia. During this time doctors have been attempting many different avenues to get him to the point where rehabilitation can begin, however do not truly know what direction to go in as they are calling this “a special case.” Kyle's responsiveness has greatly decreased from the days following his admission. Since at this point, he should be moving towards rehabilitation, his family is now in search of a pediatric neurologist, who specializes in dealing with his injuries specifically, in order to recover his quality of life sooner, rather than later. Ultimately, they would like to get him transferred to Boston Children's Hospital, however, since the accident, his parents have stayed vigilant by his side, so have been unable to return to work.
This is where we, their friends, family, or anyone who's life has been blessed by the presence of this outgoing, charismatic young man come in. All the people that have encountered him describes him as intelligent, funny and one of a kind. Kyle is extremely strong and gifted. He loves to dance, sing and go to the beach with his family. He has a love for dinosaurs, cars, books and soccer. Kyle should be entering into his first grade school year at this time but is now facing this fight for his life. Anything that you can extend to help this family get the answers they need, whether that be a donation, prayers, or even a quick share, would be greatly appreciated
