For only 7 months old... Little Jack has already had quite an adventure. Luckily, this one has a happy ending.
On March 6, Jack had a checkup with his awesome pediatrician, but he thought something wasn't right with Jack's head size. They performed an ultrasound, but the doctor pushed to have an MRI the next day because he just wasn’t convinced. Results showed that Jack had blood pooling around his brain and needed to have emergency surgery.
Jack was admitted to Children's Hospital on March 8 and scheduled to have surgery the next day to drain the excess blood and fluid from a hemorrhage that was causing pressure and swelling around his brain.
On Thursday, March 9, Jack had his surgery. They put tubes in his tiny head to drain any excess fluid that accumulated after the surgery and he had to stay in hospital until they could be removed on March 11 and Mom and Dad could take him home to finish recovering. Many tests and follow up appointments are still being done to determine what caused the bleeding, though we may never know for sure.
This was a terrifying time for Jack's parents Carrie and Tim, but Jack was a hero throughout. He's been at home recovering, doing great, playing with his cats and enjoying sweet potatoes.
