Hi, my name is Brooke, and I’m raising funds to save my sweet bunny, Hatter; my gentle, snuggly best friend who’s only 4 years old.
Just days ago, he was diagnosed with a thymoma, a tumor in his chest that’s starting to affect his breathing and, at times, digestion. I’ve been doing everything I can to keep him comfortable and giving medications to keep him stable. But this is a progressive condition, and we’re running out of time.
The good news? There is a treatment, radiation therapy, and it has given other bunnies with thymoma more comfort and time. He is still so young and deserves the most amount of happy time we can give him.
Why This Is Urgent
He recently had an X-ray, which shows a mass in his chest, one that was not there 10 months ago. He’s already showing signs of it starting to put pressure on his lungs and windpipe, causing discomfort and even GI issues.
The X-ray results were devastating, but they also gave us a chance to act before it becomes immediately life-threatening.
He’s Not Fighting Alone
He’s deeply bonded to his bunny friend, Alice. They snuggle constantly, groom each other, and have a beautiful connection. When he’s not feeling well, she stays near him, and when he doesn’t respond well, she becomes anxious too. If we lose him, we’re not just losing one bunny, we’d be breaking up a pair who rely on each other emotionally every day.
Radiation is available, but the only clinic that treats rabbits for thymoma near us is the VCA in Carlsbad, California. That’s nearly a 5-hour drive from our home in Las Vegas, and I’ll need to stay there for the duration of his treatment, which adds significantly to the cost.
Radiation therapy for rabbits is a highly specialized treatment, and the initial consultation, imaging, and full course of radiation can cost $4,000–$6,000 or more. Every single donation will go directly to his treatment and the travel/lodging we’ll need to make it possible. The ultimate goal is 6k for treatment and bunny care.
He is more than a pet; he’s my emotional support, my daily companion, and the soul that gets me through hard days. He still has energy left to fight, and his little heart wants to live. If we can raise these funds soon, we have a real shot at giving him a long, meaningful life.
If you’re an animal lover, a bunny parent, or just someone who wants to help give a beautiful life a second chance, please consider donating — or sharing this campaign. Even $5 helps. And if you can’t give, just sharing this means the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this, for caring, and for giving us hope. ❤️
