Little Free Library - For Kim
Donation protected
Update as of March 2024: We have reached our goal quicker than expected and the little library will be coming in Spring 2024. Donations remain open to go to Kim for any adventures she would like to go on during this time.
Hey there,
My name is Rebekah, and I'm reaching out to you with a heartfelt request. My dear friend Kim has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and I want to create a lasting tribute to her love for literature. I'm raising funds to build a Little Free Library in her honor, a place where our community can share and cherish books—something that brings immense joy to Kim. Your support will not only create a beautiful memorial but also provide solace to Kim during these challenging times. Let's come together to make this meaningful project a reality and celebrate the impact of literature on our lives. Every contribution counts, and your generosity will forever be a part of this touching tribute.
I am building this to last the test of time, as well as Florida’s weather, which as we all know can be truly unhinged at times. That being said - we are going the route of using composite materials to prevent any weathering, rot or pest. Composite materials are quite a bit more expensive than just standard wood. Fortunately through some research I've found a solution that should solve these problems. Not only will it be composite, but it will also be able to be officially registered and entered into a database searchable by anyone through littlefreelibrary.org. We are also planning to paint it in a way that sparks joy and inspires those who pass by that there are always reasons to be happy and to keep going.
The budget will cover the costs of the materials, as well as covering a few of her favorite books to launch the library.
Also, for anyone that knows Kim personally: this is a surprise project! I am counting on you to not mention it to her yet, as we are planning to reveal it to her once the project is fully complete.
Thank you in advance for being a source of strength and compassion this means the absolute world.
