WE ARE MOVING!!!! After four years in our shop on Adams Avenue (250 square feet of pure joy), we're expanding into a much larger storefront in the corner spot next door. We're very excited and nervous for this big change, but we believe it will only make Little Dame a much greater staple in our San Diego arts community. We want to build an even better place for artist-led workshops, art shows, artist talks, children's art classes, and (drum roll) a women-run tattoo shop! We'll be moving November 1st and throwing our grand opening on November 30th.
With the help of our loving donors, we will:
~Hire artists to paint new murals in the space
~Hire local craftspeople to construct the space (moving and changing our signage, updating register, new shelving, lighting, fixtures, etc)
~Obtain the materials we need to create our women-run tattoo shop (reclining chairs, delicious neon signs, sanitizing equipment, locking cabinets, health department inspections and permits, etc)
~Create a kids section and set up a weekly children's art program to free up time for parents on Saturday mornings (we'll be purchasing art supplies and illustrative books straight from freelance artists for kids to enjoy and learn from!)
~Even more art and gifts created by local artists
In return we will have an incentive program for our donors that will include the following:
$25: a tote bag especially designed by our graphic designer, Feelz Design Studio aka Annie Szafranski
$50: a glorious Little Dame shirt plus the tote bag
$100: your name will be entered for the chance to win a package containing gifts from some of our favorite local businesses and artists!
Some of the $100 packages we’ve secured so far:
~A free yoga session from Caitlin Wright at Moda Yoga
~A one-on-one taxidermy class from Little Dame co-owner Simone Weinstein plus a beautiful Rizzoli book: "Taxidermy Art: a rogue's guide to the work, the culture, and how to do it yourself"
~A free pass to the next watercolor class taught by Little Dame co-owner Katie Carrion plus a set of watercolor supplies
~Beautiful taxidermy by Emily Binard and Jeffrey from Junc Life
~A free pet portrait at Nico Ricoy's next local Woof Booth
~Fun stuff from Dark Horse Coffee Roasters (shirts! Mugs! Hats! Gift cards! Coffee!)
~Pinned and framed bugs by Prey and Profit
~Gift cards from our fav local restaurants, Blind Lady Ale House and Tiger! Tiger!
More prizes TBD
Whatever money we raise through this campaign will help us create a sustainable business benefiting the arts. We'll be so very grateful for any help we receive. We can't wait to tour you around the new location, host you for art events, and welcome you always. <3
