Help little Chloe sleep in her own bed again

Please help us to get this beautiful little girl home from the hospital! Chloe Burnett is two and a half-year-old girl who loves dancing to the Wiggles and painting. She is a Vegemite kid who gets it all over her face with a big smile. She is a big lover of dogs, and every dog she sees, she says ‘Hi puppy’ and ‘Woof!’
Chloe is in the hospital at the moment. She’s already been there for three weeks, and the road to recovery could be long and hard.
Chloe woke up on the morning of June 9th, paralysed down her right-hand side and was rushed to hospital in an ambulance. The doctors found a large, rare tumour on the left side of her brain. The bad news continued after further examination found that the tumour was attached to Chloe’s eyes and intertwined with her optical nerves.
On the morning of surgery to take a biopsy, Chloe had a massive bleed on her brain (haemorrhage), causing a stroke. This changed everything, and the surgeons had to operate quickly to save Chloe’s life.
A day and a half went by with Chloe in paediatric intensive care, in critical condition. She needed a nurse by her bed day and night, and machines controlled her breathing and heart. More cords and wires were going in and out of Chloe than any parent should have to see.
In the early hours of a Thursday morning, the pressure level in Chloe’s brain rose to a worryingly high level. An emergency operation was required to remove a 3x3cm piece of her skull to alleviate the pressure.
Chloe is a fighter. She’s already survived two brain surgeries and two strokes. She’s in good spirits but still has a lot of the tumour in her skull and will require Chemotherapy and possibly further surgeries.
Chloe’s Mum and Dad, Matt and Alicia, bought their first house last year, a family home. However, they are now at their daughter’s bedside 24/7 and finding it hard to pay their bills. They’ve had to consider selling their home to cover their upcoming expenses and make sure they can do everything they can to bring their little girl home.
We want to make sure that Chloe has a familiar home to return to when she is eventually able to leave the hospital.
Please give what you can to help us get Chloe back to her house.
The funding will go towards;
- Potential ‘Target Therapy Treatment,’ which may require Chloe to go overseas;
- Allied health services such as; physio, speech therapy, occupational therapy, dietician and intensive therapy recovery for childhood stroke;
- Loss of income as Alicia’s employer was unfortunately unable to support he with paid compassionate leave (and income protection does not cover dependent children);
- Modifications at home to make things like bathing Chloe easier.
We will keep everyone updated with Chloe’s journey on this page. We remain positive and thank those who have reached out to us during this time. Your love and support are greatly appreciated. It means the world.
