Little Belinda Needs Your Support

Hello, My name is Kari. My cousin, Brenda, and her husband, Blake, welcomed their 3rd child on July 7th. A beautiful daughter named Belinda.

Belinda's story per Dad Blake: Belinda was born on 7/7/2025, and within two weeks, we found out she will need heart surgery at some point to fix her VSD in her lower two chambers. Spent the day yesterday in the ER in St. Cloud. They put her on some more meds and are increasing her calorie intake to help her put on more weight to help her grow so she can be as big as possible for her surgery. Right now, a date is up in the air as she continues to do well so far, but before she hits her 6 months or sooner if she starts to have complications with her weight gain, or blood work labs will ultimately determine when or how soon she has surgery. As for her VSD, it's between the lower two chambers of the heart with constant flow between them, so you can't hear the murmur. The hole is about the size of your pinky, and her heart is about the size of a walnut. The hole is also the same size as her aorta. At this point, we are just keeping an eye on her as she grows, and we are thankful for everything going our way so far.

Unfortunately this week she has started losing weight rapidly and even high calorie formula wasnt helping so she has an NG hoping it will help her gain weight but they are going to be scheduling her open heart surgery soon. She is currently hospitalized in the St. Cloud hospital and her parents are waiting to see what happens next.

As anyone knows, a sick baby isnt cheap. Brenda is currently staying with her and Blake at home with their other 2 young children, Blake and Blair. Travel costs, food costs, hotel stays and more are coming up now and will be over the next foreseeable future. This is just to help ease their worries a little bit and give them a tiny bit less stress.
