My name is Lis, and my life took an unexpected turn one year ago when I had a recurrence of breast cancer. After doctors discovered a cancerous tumor the size of a large plum in my brain stem last February, I underwent a craniotomy to remove it and have had regular MRIs to recheck progress. The experience was overwhelming and frightening, but I faced it with as much hope and determination as I could muster. Recovery has been a long and challenging road, filled with both setbacks and small victories but still good. I really hoped I would be back to work in the skies by March, but that hasn’t been possible yet. And to make life even more interesting, a recent brain MRI shows a new small growth requiring me to have another brain surgery to remove It.
Now, as I continue my healing journey, and with the new surgery,I am facing the burden of a medical deductible that is difficult to manage on my own since I am still not back to work. The costs of ongoing care, follow-up appointments, and the emotional toll of this experience add up quickly. It’s not easy to ask for help, but I know that every bit of support brings me closer to a full recovery and allows me to focus on healing, rather than worrying about bills.
The support I’ve received throughout this year has been absolutely incredible. I couldn’t have done it without everyone on my side, and I am so grateful and thankful for the kindness and encouragement I’ve experienced. If you’re able to help, your generosity will make a real difference in my journey. Thank you for being part of my story and for helping me continue to heal.
