In October 2022 I went on holiday to St Lucia. Although a beautiful island I was horrified at the appalling condition many of the animals were in. Dogs, cats and horses are not cared for in the way we do. I met a lady called Lisa Falco and we decided we wanted to help these animals on this island. We agreed to focus on spaying and neutering as many dogs as we could to help stem the population explosion as well as rescuing ill and suffering ones. We also exported some for rehoming as well as bringing our own rescues home! This year it became apparent that there are many horses in need and no one helping them. It has taken a lot of patience for me to carefully build relationships with local horse owners for them to allow me to help them as many of them see nothing wrong with their horses dreadful condition. There are no qualified horse vets, no registered farriers, no dentists and almost no medications to treat the poor souls. I spent my 40 year working life as a competition rider and livery yard owner and trainer so many horses have passed through my hands and I have learned a lot from them. Many horses are with only a scrap of poor grass, occasional water and no medical care of any sort and with this management are expected to work long hours on the beaches in the hot sun carrying tourists who are often way too heavy for them using ill fitting painful tack. I am doing my utmost to help these poor creatures and have spent an enormous amount of my own money which is not sustainable. I am so grateful for all of you that have donated and ask if there's any chance you could make a monthly donation?
