Lismore Mobile Food Kitchen

After evacuating with flood#2, we back and better than ever. All the other services in our hub are yet to return so you’ve popped in a free store and the library has set up next to us as well.

We’ve been here a bit over a week now, and apparently we’re the only sit down cafe left standing in Lismore :-). Lots of displaced people and work crews coming through each day for a feed and coffee/tea/chai. Also lots of local support with people donating food, cakes, soups, stews … and did I mention cakes! However, we do need a little tip up of cash to get us through another 2 weeks - anything you can spare would be most appreciated!

Hi  team - some friends of mine are heading up to Lismore on Wednesday to set up a "Food not Bombs" style mobile kitchen. I'm looking at filling my van with fresh food to send up with them.

(I was going to ask for food donations from all the usual suspects but I think it would be better to support small food businesses as well as they often get asked for donations).

If you've been living under a (dry) rock and not sure what's been happening, use the #lismorefloods in your favourite social media to catch up. In essense, at least 7 supermarkets were flooded just in Lismore alone and there is pretty much no food. And from what I understand, the state government has been pretty slow to respond.

So if you can spare some cash, I'll do some shopping on Tuesday and hopefully we can fill this one up.
