A message from Khem and Cody:

On the morning of Monday 28th Feb our parents, Paul and Marianna, awoke to the terrifying experience of their home being inundated with water. Only hours before, authorities had assured them that the river would peak at 10m, a height they knew in their high set house, elevated many meters above the ground, that they would be safe in. However, the peak level had been grossly underestimated by over 4m and they suddenly found themselves in a life-threatening situation.

As the water quickly rose and frantic calls to triple 0 and the SES went unanswered, they made their way to the balcony, and were finally rescued in shoulder high in water, clinging to the balcony frame as the flood water rushed by them.

Whilst the trauma of this event will be long lasting, what compounds things is the destruction of all that they own, including their two cars.

The money raised through this gofundme will be used to help cover the overwhelming amount of financial expenses they are facing: the extensive repairs required to their house, the replacement of all household goods, furniture, clothing and vehicles and most importantly, to help them move into safe and secure housing so they never have to endure this again.

As new retirees this has come as a huge blow.
