Filmapalooza 2024- Lisbon, Portugal

Hello! Earlier this year, my team and I participated in the Hampton Roads 48 Hour Film Project- Horror Edition for the first time ever. Not only did we have a blast, we won best city film with our short film Fear of Discovery. Because of that, we are invited to Filmapalooza, an international film festival, which is being held in Lisbon, Portugal in March 2024. This festival offers workshops and screenings, but perhaps most importantly, a valuable opportunity for networking.

Four months ago, I never expected that I'd be where I am now. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get to this festival, including reducing expenses as much as possible to prepare and saving up as much as I can. Additionally, I'd love to be able to financially help other team members wanting to go. There's no way I'd be here without them.

Round trip tickets from NFK to Lisbon and back run around $800, before fees. As the team lead, it's only $25 for me to attend the Filmapalooza event, but it's $295 for each of my friends. Because of this, I am attempting to raise as much as I can.

My first goal is $500, and it will increase by increments of $150 until I reach a maximum of $1500. The amount raised will go to me and my friends for tickets- whether they are event entry or plane. Anything given beyond $1500 will be used for extra travel expenses, including hostels, food, and tickets.
