Lisa Mix Heil, never imagined she would have to fight for her life at age 43. This is the age Lisa was suddenly and first diagnosed with an aggressive form of Breast Cancer.
Lisa is a former Bank of America Home Loans Employee here in Carmel Valley (San Diego), from 2005-2012. Lisa is married to her Husband Andy Heil, who has worked in various roles with Bank of America since 2010, and is currently employed with US Trust in San Diego. Lisa is a devoted and loving Mother to her adorable young Daughters, Penny and Paloma, as well as the most caring family member and friend to all that know her. We are a group of Lisa and Andy's close friends and colleagues, looking to help Lisa in her courageous fight!
For the past 2.5 years, Lisa has been undergoing a multitude of grueling treatments in her fight to eradicate her cancer. Lisa believes in both conventional and holistic treatments. She has carefully sought out medical opinions, and considered all therapies available to her as she battles this vicious disease. Lisa has faced this very frightening challenge with a positive outlook and approach. Lisa has been treated with herbal medicines, immunotherapy, radiation, chemotherapy; and has also undergone surgery for removal of the tumor in her breast and the 28 corresponding cancerous nodes in the area. So many difficult challenges; medically, physically, spiritually and financially.
After completing 35 radiation treatments, we were all hoping for NO MORE CANCER. Unfortunately, Lisa and Andy received the devastating news that her cancer had spread. The diagnosis was elevated to Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer, with a newly identified 8x5 cm tumor in her liver, and other identified spots on her lung and at the base of her neck. Crushing and paralyzing news after 2.5 years of treatment.
They say “it takes a village”, and a village of love and support is what Andy, Lisa, and their extended family have been so grateful to receive. With Lisa’s recently changed diagnosis, and the new treatment plan she has embarked on, it will definitely take a wider village to help support the family, most specifically financially. Andy is continuing to work full time, parent, and is a present and loving support to Lisa. However, Lisa will be undergoing treatment for the next three months which takes her away from San Diego 5 days a week. This has created new challenges and a large financial burden. There are weekly out of state travel costs, temporary housing in addition to their existing home here in San Diego, treatment costs not covered by insurance, and all other basic needs for the family which have been hindered with Lisa’s loss of income since first being diagnosed at the end of 2015.
We have created this Go Fund Me page in case you are inclined to contribute any amount as part of “Lisa’s Village”. We’d really like to help make this next stage of battle less stressful financially. This will no doubt bring forth an even fiercer spirt in the amazing cancer warrior, Lisa.
Thank you so much for your support in advance!
