Ride for Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury
Tax deductible
Greetings,
My name is Lisa Esposito. I am a mom/bonus mom. I am a LEO Spouse. I am an EMT Student. I am a Civil Legal Advocate for Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury. But what some people do not know is that I am a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Survivor of 22 years (more than half my life).
With that being said, I am passionate about what I do. Albeit challenging at times it is gratifying. I attribute my desire to give back to Safe Haven because some years ago after being hospitalized due to a Domestic Violence situation, I met with my victims advocate again. Her name was Barbara. Barbara helped me through some of the toughest moments to calm me down, talk to me through my tears, and help me see that I was enough.
Three years ago I broke free in large part to my children but also a friend who saw through my tough exterior and knew I was hurting. He helped me see my worth. He filled a void that I carried for so long. We have been together since.
So in honor of the work we do at Safe Haven and my experience, I want to give back to this wonderful non-profit. This October I will be riding my bicycle from Cheshire, CT to Massachusetts and maybe even beyond. I have not set a specific date yet but, I will keep everyone updated.
This ride is in honor of our victims, our survivors and in memory of those we have lost.
