Hi. My name is Lisa and I was a healthy, fit career woman who ran marathons and enjoyed a great life with a great job. Up until I was 50. Then the unthinkable happened. I was struck down by a severe hemorrhagic stroke due to an AVM which apparently I was born with. This is a small malformation in the brain which, because of a lack of capillaries, puts undue pressure on the veins of the brain. In my case, it cause a bleed in the right side of my brain and left me paralyzed on my left side. I have been working with physiotherapists and doctors to get some of my life back but it is very slow, very hard and very expensive. I am trying to raise funds to help pay for the exorbitant costs of therapies. I’ve lost my home and any savings I had in order to pay for these costs but it isn’t enough.
