You Have Been Given This Mountain to Show Others That It Can Be Moved

Hello Family, Friends and Supporters
of Lisa Specht Wetterich.

As many of you know, Lisa is an incredible woman who after having been widowed for 14 years has poured her heart and soul into raising her three sons; the two youngest are just finishing high school. As a single mom, Lisa has been able to work part-time while dedicating herself to the busy schedule of supporting her boys’ in school and their passions for playing baseball and basketball.

So, on a beautiful sunny day this past June, I was flipping through my text messages when this one stopped me cold. It was a rather long message and it completely rocked my world.
Lisa was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer, medically termed “invasive lobular carcinoma”.

I was in disbelief and denial. “How can this be happening to her after all she has been through?” Most of you know that our family has been through many of life’s unexpected twists and turns. And so, we have been blessed with yet another one – we will overcome this, just as we have done in the past but we can’t do it without your support.

Lisa’s treatment protocol consists of 6 rounds of intensive chemo, once every three weeks. This will last about 18 weeks and is expected to be finished just after Thanksgiving. If all goes as planned, treatment will be followed by surgery, early in 2018.

“Faith Over Fear”

If you know our sister Lisa, you know this…  She is an amazing woman with incredible survivor instincts with a very healthy attitude rooted in her strong faith. She has told us, “God’s got this … He’s allowing me to take this journey and I am going to get through this!”

We all believe her, without a doubt!

We are setting up this fund to support Lisa’s journey and fight of, and for, her life. The intensive chemo treatments limit Lisa’s ability to work, and her income will diminish. These funds will be used to help with medical costs like deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance, medication and other services not covered by insurance. But more importantly, these funds will be used to support Lisa and her boys with everyday living expense; housing, food and transportation, among others while she is simply not well enough to work – throughout Lisa’s chemo treatments, there are days she is simply not able to get out of bed or off the couch. This is not a choice. This is not a cop-out.

Lisa was very hesitant to ask for help in this way (we honestly had to encourage her to allow us to create this campaign and reach out), because she is a very strong and independent woman. But we know that family and friends want to help and support Lisa in her fight against breast cancer. Please know that no amount is too small and every contribution will be deeply appreciated and wisely spent.

Finally, regardless if you can help financially, we ask you for your prayers…lots of them, always!

Cancer may have started the fight, but Lisa will finish it!
