Dear family and friends, this is Laurin (Lisa's sis) and Connie (Lisa's dear friend) here. We are starting this GoFundMe page to provide a place for all those kind people who have asked "how can I help support Lisa?" and "what updates do you have on Lisa's cancer journey?"

Some background: Throughout December and early January Lisa was experiencing some very rapid weight loss, extreme fatigue, and blood in her stool. With the encouragement of Michael, she saw a GI doctor and had a colonoscopy, which showed that she had a 2" mass in her sigmoid colon. The mass was biopsied and she underwent two CT scans and blood tests. The biopsy results showed that the mass was cancer and it needed to be removed asap. Surgery to remove the cancer is scheduled for the morning of Wednesday, February 4th. The pathology results are expected to be back within two weeks after surgery. Once these pathology results are received, doctors will determine what steps come next.

Because this is a major surgery, Lisa will have to take an unpaid medical leave from her position at Gabriel's Angels, the small non-profit she started working with in August of 2025. Because of this time needed for healing and the expenses associated with the cancer treatment, Lisa and Michael would greatly appreciate any monetary support you may be able to provide. They both stress that of course this is not expected by any means, and yet, this is very much a way to be helpful in the time of this unexpected event.

We will be providing updates as Lisa progresses through this journey. Updates will be posted post-surgery and as next steps are determined.

Lisa and Michael realize how fortunate they are to have you all in their lives. Your support means the world to them. They realize that this is a shitty (see what we did there?) situation, but(t) are staying positive and will get through this with the love of family and friends. Finally, Lisa would like us to emphasize that if you have ANY GI symptoms that are new or concerning, go in and see your doctor as soon as possible. And if you are 45, schedule your colonoscopy!
