LisaLee (Smith) Cook

Cancer is not a word you want to hear! Unfortunately for LisaLee, it is all too prevalent within her family.

LisaLee (Smith) Cook works full-time as a senior account executive/marketing specialist and is very active in her small-town Optimist club. She is a loving mother and wife and spoils her sweet pups, as she affectionately calls them. Very recently, she was diagnosed with DCIS breast cancer. LisaLee is the 4th Generation of women on her mother’s side to be diagnosed with breast cancer; her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother all passed away from it. Due to their family history, the type of cancer, and her most recent MRI results, LisaLee has chosen to undergo a bilateral mastectomy; This will give her a better chance of survival than the generations before her. Within a few months, cancer has progressed from one breast to both. God has led LisaLee throughout her journey, and with the advisement of medical professionals, she has chosen the specialty hospital in New Orleans for surgery and reconstruction. Due to these special circumstances, her insurance refuses to pay for her surgical needs. After numerous doctor appointments and follow-ups, she has no vacation time and cannot work for the upcoming 6-8 weeks. She was required to pay upfront for the surgery, and, because of her missing insurance support, she and her husband Jerry were forced to deplete their savings & retirement. Her surgery is scheduled for September 19th at the Center for Restorative Breast Cancer. At this time, their immediate needs include travel expenses, lodging and food while in New Orleans, along with everyday household expenses and additional medical bills. Her journey will not end with this surgery! Future costs will include other travel for follow-up visits and counseling. LisaLee has a positive outlook and is unwavering in her Faith. She has set the goals of celebrating a milestone anniversary with her husband Jerry, seeing her son Nolyn get married, and having grandkids.

We hope to raise funds to help alleviate LisaLee and her family's burdens as they focus on her surgery and recovery.
