Lisa Britton Stevenson, born on November 8, 1960, in Pittsburgh, PA, of Reverend Samuel Hayden Britton and Virginia Dale Britton, passed away on December 18, 2023, in East Flat Rock, NC, after a brave fight with kidney cancer.

From sprinting down her father's church halls with her sisters to conquering the basketball courts in school, Lisa's infectious energy defined her. Her journey led her to the University of Tennessee, where she found love with Scott Comstock Stevenson. They wed in June 1984, then built their house and life together in East Flat Rock, NC, where they joyfully welcomed Katherine Lynne in 1993 and James Hayden in 1996.

Lisa loved giving massages, providing both physical and spiritual therapy to her clients, as well as seeking out a well-deserved spa treatments for herself. She sought to beautify every space she encountered with her interior design skills, and saw the beauty in thrown away, vintage, or antique treasures. She was always on the go, making her way through most every state in America, especially in support of her children’s athletic endeavors. She was an avid fan of her favorite teams - the Tennessee Volunteers, the Pittsburgh Steelers, but was the biggest fan of the Centre College Colonels: you could see her from a mile away in her yellow smiley chair and hear her from a mile away cheering “Go Colonels!”

Lisa's heart overflowed with generosity, matched only by her larger-than-life spirit. Recognizable by her loudest-in-the-room laughter, she captivated with kindness, quirkiness, and boundless energy. Her altruism extended to Sugarloaf Elementary School, where she gave her love and support to the students there, aiming to give them all a fair shot at an education.

Lisa's spirit lives on through her devoted husband of 39 years, her loving children, her daughter-in-law (Lauren Paynter), and her first granddaughter (Ellis Hayden Paynter), who brought a smile to her face until the end. She is also survived by her mother (Dale Britton), three sisters (Laurie McDanel, Lynne Shapiro, and Mary-Hayden Britton), and four nephews (Brad McDanel, Britt McDanel, Mark Shapiro, and Hayden Fulcher), as well as a countless parade of supportive friends.

Funeral services will remain intimate, but all are invited to a Celebration of Life on January 13, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Saluda at 10:30 AM with a visitation starting at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in Lisa's name, which supports the students of Sugarloaf Elementary School.
