Lisa Palmer's Unexpected Brain Tumor

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Malinda, I am fundraising on behalf of my aunt, Lisa Peterson Palmer with the permission of her family. Lisa is a beautiful strong wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Lisa has been married to Jamie since 1991. They have seven incredible kids and three beautiful grandkids.

Backstory: After the death of her mother, Lisa began to act differently. Initially, her family thought it was Lisa grieving her death. As time went on, Lisa's personality changed and she could not remember things correctly. Due to ongoing problems with her memory, she has been unable to work. She has always been a hard worker.

Lisa's family urged Lisa to see a doctor. She recently started seeing a new doctor who ran a bunch of tests, including an MRI. They got the results back on Feb. 3, 2023. The MRI showed an apple-sized tumor at the base of Lisa's frontal lobes (see pictures: the white circle is the tumor).

On Feb. 7, 2023, Lisa went into brain surgery. The doctors were able to remove only half of the tumor and had to stop because of an unexpected amount of swelling in her brain. They did a CT scan and were unable to continue the surgery. They kept her sedated in hopes that the swelling would go down and they could continue the surgery. Later that same night they did an additional CT scan. The swelling was getting worse. They took her into surgery and opened up the opposite side of her skull to relieve some of the pressure. The doctors hope to continue the surgery when the swelling goes down.

Since the surgery, Lisa has been placed into a medically induced coma. She will stay in the coma until the swelling goes down. There are still a lot of unknowns at the moment. Currently, Lisa's brain is still swelling. They are hoping to pull her off of sedation in 4-7 days (from Feb. 10, 2023) if the swelling goes down. They cannot take her out of the coma until the swelling goes down. Doing so can cause brain damage or death. We won't know more until the swelling goes down and they can remove the rest of the tumor. It is expected that Lisa will need long-term care.

This has put a strain on Lisa's family's finances and resources. We appreciate your donations as well as prayers and well wishes.
