Lisa Lindwall Sanger Memorial Fund
My sister, Lisa, brought so much joy, laughter, love and kindness to everyone around her and this is our opportunity to give back and support her family in their time of need. She worked as a teacher who touched the lives of many children and their families.
Lisa passed from this life on July 27th, 2021 after an extremely courageous 3-month battle against glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), a particularly aggressive kind of brain cancer. It caught everyone who knew her completely by surprise as she was such an organic, healthy person and everything happened so quickly.
Her husband, Dan, was with Lisa every step of the way, delicately balancing his love, support and attention for her as well as to their 7 year old son Finn, as Finn tried to understand why his mommy was so sick.
We have started this GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses and help with ongoing living expenses due to the loss of Lisa’s income. It would be a dream if we could help payoff their mortgage so that they can continue to live in the amazing little home they all shared.
If you can find it in your heart to help Finn and Dan stay in their home where Finn can keep Lisa’s memories alive, please donate to this GoFundMe page. Every bit will help. It’s hard to imagine losing your wife, your best friend, and your mom, please let’s pull together to make sure they don’t lose their home too.
It started with an emergency room visit on April 23rd with symptoms of dizziness, nausea, and confusion. The next day she had surgery to remove a large tumor on the left side of her brain and the pathology report showed that the tumor was GBM. She then underwent 6 weeks of radiation therapy combined with chemotherapy and all signs were generally positive as her 4 weeks of recovery started. Unfortunately, on July 9th, she ended up back in the hospital with terrible dizziness, nausea and headache – the next 3 weeks were an awful rollercoaster of ups and downs for both her and those of us who love her.
Below are some thoughts that Dan shared on CaringBridge that say it so well…
“In the end, glioblastoma is a horrible, horrible, horrible disease. It takes everyone it attacks, and most of them swiftly. Lisa battled, and she did everything she could to be there for Finn, me, and everyone who she cared about. Unfortunately, she was fighting an unwinnable battle."
"To everyone who has helped us out over the past 3 months - thank you. You have made our lives so much easier through this stretch and allowed us to focus on each other.”
"In the meantime, please continue to pray for us, especially Finn, and in honor of Lisa, find everyone that you love today and hug them just a little tighter than normal, and tell them that you love them.”
