Hi everyone!
As you may have heard, our mom was diagnosed with a rare form of bone marrow failure/blood cancer called MDS (Myelodysplastic syndrome), and she needed a bone marrow transplant from her sister Bern, who was a rockstar donor :). We are hoping that the transplant cures her cancer, and she can get back to living her best life: Sunday Fundays spent golfing with our dad, being the world's most amazing grandma to her five grandkids, playing Sheeps Head with her kids and our spouses, and so much more.
She just retired in December 2021 and started getting sick right after that. She has worked so hard her entire life and now when it is time for her to finally take a break, she received a cancer diagnosis. Our mom is one tough woman and has been fighting this and taking it on like a champ! Her doctors have said she has ‘special’ blood, and she is a ‘special’ case. And while mom does not want to be considered ‘special,’ we all know she is one special lady! She’s incredibly selfless and giving, always there when you need her, and can whip up a meal or party spread like no one else!
We know people are always asking, ‘What can I do?’ so we decided to start this as one way people can help support our mom and dad in this challenging time. We will use any donations to help offset some of the costs due to this diagnosis:
-countless miles back and forth to appointments in Sheboygan, Milwaukee, and even Washington D.C.
-platelet transfusions
-a month stay at Froedert (where she is now)
-another month (at minimum) close to Froedtert at 'Kathy's House' where they will pay per night and are in charge of their own meals
-specialized cleaning of our parents’ house before she can come home
-follow up appointments, anti-rejection meds and other prescriptions too
Unfortunately, our dad will also need surgery on November 17th to solve a breathing issue that has arisen...Life is just giving us a run lately! But we will all get through it!
If you want to help in this way, a small donation would help make these expenses a smidge easier on our parents. We are well aware that a small donation can make a big impact!
Thankfully we have a ton of love and support surrounding all of us. So thank you for reading this and sending love, prayers, and good vibes our way.
