Lisa Giordano Medical Fundraiser

Donation protected
Lisa is a fierce community advocate, artist, mentor and friend. She is battling ovarian cancer with the quiet grace, courage and humility that those blessed enough to know her …deeply love.

When Lisa was presented with the idea that her friends & family wanted to raise money on her behalf, Lisa hemmed and hawed before giving us the ok as long as it wasn’t just about her. “It must also be for all women and to support research for early detection of ovarian cancer.”

Lisa was 8-years-old when she started giving. It started as a mini-fair in the back yard of her family home, which raised $30.65 that was donated to St. Jude’s Children’s fund. Lisa’s sister Dina lost a battle to neuroblastoma 2-years before. At the fair, there were games, homemade baked goods, a white elephant table, and 5-year-old friend Miss Toula as fortune teller. Note of the Fair appeared in the NL Day. Little did we know that we’d be back this way again.

Lisa Giordano, a native of New London is by nature selfless. Along with being the eldest daughter of Jim and Pat Giordano who currently reside in Waterford, CT and sister to Jamie and Anne. She holds a MA in Chemistry from Mount Holyoke College and did a Research Thesis on The Role of Aromatic Amino Acid Side Chains in Protein-Nucleic Acid interactions. Her true calling has been self-lessness that she pursues through her love of the arts – painting, playwrighting, producing, directing and teaching through theater and art.

Her demeanor is quiet but her ability to move mountains is huge. Lisa is a co-founder and Vice President of Emerson Theater Collaborative (ETC) and ETC’s resident playwright, a member of the Dramatist Guild and has studied American Impressionism with many a well-known artist including Lois Constantine. Awards: several. Exhibits: yes.

Lisa is on the boards and advisory board for several nonprofit organizations including ETC, Auxiliary of Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, and Writer’s Block, Ink. Lisa led the Writer’s Block as it’s first executive director for several years as it’s first executive director … keeping it going and fueling its youth. She was a New London Youth Talent Show Co-Coordinator in 2011 and 2012 held at the Garde Arts Center, a past board member of the Southeastern Connecticut Women’s Network and in June of this year was awarded The Network’s “Women of the Year Award.”
All of Lisa’s works are thoughtful, always as a contribution to “make a difference” as indicated in titles: “Harriet Tubman’s Dream” and “True Nature of All Being” (with plans to possibly be shown at our beloved Garde Arts Center).

Lisa has done all of the above plus too much to mention while through the years battling the long- term effects of Lyme Disease and now a diagnosis of Ovarian Cancer.

Please consider supporting Lisa and ovarian cancer research. Any contribution will go a long way.
