My friend Lisa Genier has been living with and fighting a rare, debilitating, neuro-muscular, auto-immune disease called Neuro Myelitis Optica or NMO for over 25 years and has been confined to a wheelchair since 1999. In the last few years, Lisa’s condition has been worsening and her mobility has been deteriorating. Then in May, due to medication she was taking to treat an NMO flare-up, Lisa suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, which caused her left side to be paralyzed. Now, as she is trying to heal and get her life back, she is facing medical bills that are not covered by insurance.

Lisa and I graduated high school together and have remained close throughout the years.  Humor and laughter has been the greatest gift of our friendship.  

Lisa has persevered through many obstacles however, I have to say this is the toughest by far!  It is unbelievable to watch her strength and the strength of her loving partner Valerie.
