Lisa Chibbaro, it sure is hard to described her. She is Child of God, caring, witty, hard working, and a very loyal friend. If you have been around Lisa at any point you will have walked away with a smile on your face. She never meets a stranger. Loves her Diet Coke and M&M’s and loves to thrift store shop and will always be there for a friend.
On September 7th this year, Lisa went for a follow up mammogram and by the end of that day the biopsy was scheduled for the following morning. On Saturday the 10th Lisa was at one of her jobs trying to get caught up on paperwork when she checked the fax… there was her name and the words carcinoma. It was devastating news but God wrapped his arms around her and said, “Lisa you have Breast Cancer and you must begin treatment immediately.” By September 26th she had her Lifeport installed and was ready to go.
Today, October 4, 2022 Chemotherapy began. She will be unable to work during this time as chemo will have her sick and very fatigued. She has two rounds of chemo totaling 20 weeks, then surgery, and then a short round of radiation. Even in the face of astronomical adversity, in true Lisa fashion she committed to beating cancer in her own way. She plans on wearing a tutu every time she walks into the Kirkland Cancer Center. She said to me, “do you know how hard it is to be depressed in a tutu?” She decided that it would be better to make at least one person smile through this storm and the best part about that is she understands and has said, “it’s okay if that one person is me!”
As you can imagine with this diagnosis the medical cost and time off from work will become a financial stress she does not need. By the grace of God she does have health insurance but it doesn’t include a cancer plan and it sure doesn’t include monies for rent and utilities or food and toiletries. She will need help even though she would never want to admit it. She is very private and will give her shirt off her back for others so this may be a way for her to accept help from others without the feeling of humiliation and embarrassment. No donation is too small and anything is appreciated. Let’s band together and support Lisa who makes this world a better place with her smiles and laughter! Her fight… is our fight.
