Update: I’m floored by the outpouring of love, support, and donations. There are no words for how grateful we all are Thank you SO much!
Aloha all—as you all know, Lahaina Town was hit by a devastating fire last night that leveled the entire town. Almost everyone who lived within the town limits has lost their home, including my mom and brother, Lisa and Sam. Sammy is a special needs adult, with Down Syndrome and Autism, and my mom is his full-time caretaker, which means that even the smallest inconvenience can add up financially. Due to the magnitude of this disaster and Maui’s limited resources, relocating and rebounding is going to be a long and expensive uphill battle.
As a fairly proud family, a GoFundMe never seemed like something I would ever campaign for. But at this time, since so many beloved friends and family have graciously asked how they can help, here I am. All donations will go directly to my mom and brother, and will help ease the financial burden of not only losing all of their possessions and shelter, but help with whatever step comes next.
Aloha nui loa, hau’oli wau aia oe ma Ko’u ola — “With all my love, I am glad to have you in my life.”
