OUR CURRENT STRUGGLE
We are now completely out of work and unable to maintain the studio rent along with our personal financial commitments. We have been trying to negotiate with our landlord but the options proposed as solutions involve us getting in debt through back-paying or taking out loans. These solutions will only mean further uncertainty and anxiety for the studio.

We know there are so many others who have had their ability to work affected by Covid-19 but as a young business with a community based motive and a lot of potential to grow we would greatly appreciate any support from those who are in a position to.

ABOUT LIQUORICE 404
https://www.instagram.com/liquorice404/
Liquorice 404 is a private tattoo studio based in East London. It is home to 3 queer womxn resident artists who specialise in tattooing darker skin (and thus are proficient in all skin tones), aiming to provide a safer space for the LGBTQIA+ community.

We want to disrupt the accepted inequality within the mainstream UK tattoo industry by creating and nurturing a tattoo COMMUNITY and reclaiming tattooing as a transformational practice with maximum respect for the client’s body.

Our goal is to be a resistance base for BPOC and LGBTQIA+ folks to get together, learn and share knowledge. As our clients and supporters already know, we are outspoken and actively challenge racism and queerphobia within the tattoo industry and beyond. We aim to organise workshops and other community-based events/projects both independently as well as in collaboration with other like-minded organisations and individuals.

The studio is just over a year young. We have been investing all we can into the business however we would love additional support to help us change our current tattoo beds to new ones that would better accommodate bodies of all sizes. We were also dreaming of eventually moving to a space that would be fully accessible to everyone as well as having a space big enough to share with other committed resident artists and invite QTIBPOC artists to guest with us.
