Lions Diabetes Camp at Lake McCumber

Donation protected
Each year, the Lions Health Foundation of District 4-C1 sponsors a camp for children ages 8-17 who have type 1 diabetes.  In order to run the camp safely, numerous medical supplies are required.  One very significant need is the test strips used to monitor the blood glucose levels of our campers.  In the past, we have had these test strips donated by the manufacturers.  This year, however, we were not able to obtain our usual donation.  With seventy campers each testing six to ten times daily for seven days, we need over 4,000 test strips for the week.  Covering the cost of the test strips, which can cost up to $1 each, would mean a substantial increase in expenses for us.  Since we try to keep the cost of attending camp minimal, and we are committed to accepting all campers regardless of their ability to pay, we need support in purchasing the test strips.  Please partner with us in providing a fun, safe sleep-away camp experience for as many Northern California children and youth with diabetes as possible.  Thank you!  To learn more about our camp, visit our website at Lions Diabetes Camp at Lake McCumber .
