Lionel Renard Salon Staff Support Fund

Donation protected
Greetings!

As Hairstylists, we had no other choice to close our 3 locations on March 16th for the safety of staff and clients, and to do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19.  This is a very difficult time for our team  who can no longer work, pay their bills, or support their families, knowing that all of us are, fully relying on our hair salon work as a source of revenue  being a collective of independent hairstylist contractors.

We are unsure how long we will remain closed. Many of you have been asking us what you can do to help, so we have decided to set up this fund that will benefit all the team.

We know this is a very difficult time for everyone. If you are in a position to give any amount large or small, our team would be grateful for your support.
Thank you all and Stay Safe at Home!

A Message from Mercedes Renard:

As most of you know or perhaps you didn’t but Lionel and I own a hair salon located in Los Angeles on 3rd Street near the Grove. We have been open now for 6 years and in the beginning it wasn’t a walk in the park, but hey what new endeavor is.

Lionel has been a hairdresser for over 30 years following in the foot steps of his dad Serge Renard. So when we decided to set up roots in LA, after leaving NYC and start a family, he felt his first flagship salon should be in Los Angeles.
We wanted to create a space that was inviting and peaceful. Where everyone would vibe together and all the clients would feel at home. Cultivating this took time and when things were rough and he was working all by himself and didn’t know how to pay the mortgage he never gave up. Working insane hours in all 3 cities, Miami, NY and LA to make it work was the only option. And if I’m honest, that wasn’t too hard for him to do because he loves what he does. He is an artist and adores his clients on both coasts.

Building our team here in LA was a slow process but last year we completed the circle and now have 13 wonderful Artistic Stylists that share our space with their wonderful clientele. It’s the synergy we always dreamed of having and we are so grateful for them.

But now in the time of the Corona, things have shifted once again. They say we are all in this together but we are not all on the same boat. When the city asked Lionel to close it’s doors 1 month ago to help mitigate this virus all revenues came to a stop. For him. For his stylists. For many of us. As an actress, my income and opportunities for work have too, come to a halt. Fortunately, and humbly, I applied for unemployment for the first time in my life and I hope to soon have some revenue coming in. At home, we are doing our best to keep things easy as we want, our son, to not feel the stresses of what we are going through financially (I’m sure many of you are going thorough a similar situation).

Unfortunately, for Lionel and his stylists who are independent contractors, unemployment has been a s--t show. We’ve applied for the SBA loans and the PPP program but have yet to hear from them. So after much consideration, and hearing from our clients about how they can help, we decided to start a Gofund page and open it up to the masses. We want To be able to help our stylists navigate through these un-chartered waters. I’m sure you’ve already given to other causes but I am here to ask you,for your help, as well. I know this is not an easy time for anyone but If you find that you have the means to give any amount, big or small, please consider in giving to our go fund campaign to help our stylists while we wait to open safely soon. You can even purchase gift certificates for yourself or loved ones for the future.

Our hairdressers are essential to our well-being and the fact that no one is even talking about this industry is baffling. Just like the restaurants, Bars and the Arts they too need our help.. So again I ask, please do what you can and also forward our GoFund page to your friends, post it on your social sites so you can help us help them. Thank you for taking the time to read. God speed.
