LingYourLanguage: The First Update

Donation protected
After about two months of existence - and now just over 1,000 visitors per day - LingYourLanguage is ready for its first major update, and we aim to not only significantly improve upon current gameplay mechanics, but also - and more importantly - create the foundation to turn it into an educational resource that can inspire the next generation of linguists.

What exactly will this update include? The $1,500 goal will go towards developing several major new features, such as:

Education:

Creating a resource for players to really learn about the languages they are listening to. Languages are such an integral part of a culture, and provide an excellent means of exploring history, culture, politics, linguistics, and more. We aim to provide basic information about every language in the game (70+ in over 1,900 samples and still increasing), as well as more detailed information on a wide variety of topics. We hope to collaborate with students, professors, universities, and others to achieve a well-balanced linguistic resource which users can use as a springboard to go on and learn more.

Gameplay:

We have received many comments,  through social media, email, and in person, and have many ideas for how to improve the gameaplay. The update planned will resolve common bugs, refine the difficulty progression to make it more reasonable, add features to the user interface, and much more.

Community:

The community has been an integral part of LingYourLanguage's success. The positive feedback we have received on social media (especially Reddit), as well as through emails and in person, has been so important to LingYourLanguage's success. We plan to add several features that will allow our users to be even more engaged with the game, such as making it easier to submit their own samples to the game and providing users with statistics about their gameplay.

Thank you so much for helping LingYourLanguage make it this far, and we are excited to learn with you!
