UPDATE — Lindy ended her fight and made her way to her Heavenly Home with family by her side on Wednesday night, May 31st. She suffered a stroke which attacked her brain stem taking away her ability to breathe on her own. Once the decision was made to take her off the ventilator, Lindy passed quickly and without suffering. It ended an almost two year fight where Lindy gave everything she could. I have never known a tougher person!
Her family needs support more now than ever. Expenses have piled up and the family will now have to learn how to be a single income household. Since her passing, Lindy’s youngest son, Gibby, has had to stay in the hospital to have infectious material removed from his hip. In addition, her husband, Kirk, will need to have doctor visits and possible surgery on his knee stemming from a baseball injury this season.
The family has almost two years of medical bills facing them as they move to a one income household.
We have done amazing things helping them. Let’s continue to find ways to raise them up during this difficult time.

Lindy is an individual who devoted her life to making an impact on young students as an educator. Anyone who ever saw her interact w students knows her passion for other people’s children. Lindy’s heart is one of service.

When she was not loving on the students at school, she was all in for her own kids, Scout, Gibson, Hadley and Finn. As a coaches wife and daughter, Lindy always knew the struggles of getting kids to softball practices, plays, baseball games and doctors appointments. However, she loved every second of watching and loving her kids. They are her world, and she has unique relationships with each of them which will live on. To watch her with them was to know love.

In December of 2021, Lindy, like so many others, got COVID … or so they thought. Lindy had actually contracted meningitis and made it to the hospital just in time. But unfortunately this was only the start of her struggles. For almost two years Lindy battled brain issues. Her and her family were pulled through the wringer as it has been one hospital stay after another with no clear plan forward.

During this time, Lindy had crippling headaches and her vision became an obstacle. She had no energy and often could not speak without delay and extreme thought. She was a frustrated mother as this caused her to miss an event or two of her kids. And just as frustrated as an educator not being there for her students like she wanted.

In January 2023, the family got inspiring news. A doctor felt her brain battles were due to a fungal infection; Lindy was checked into the hospital and treatment began to treat the fungus. During this stay Lindy had the first of her brain biopsies done. From the biopsy, it was determined she actually had an autoimmune disease, Neurosarcoidosis. And a plan was made to move forward.

At first everyone was hopeful they had a hold on this. However, Lindy still had severe headaches, her vision was getting worse, at times she could not hear, and walking short distances made her have to rest. Lindy and family knew there was something still not addressed.

Lindy pushed through the best she could at work, but life was getting more and more difficult. Weekly blood draws, numerous painful lumbar punctures, routine CT scans and MRI were taking their toll.

Than this last month hit.

Lindy has had two stays in the hospital which have taken up much of May. She began having leg pains which had no relief and she started having balance issues. It wouldn’t be long before Lindy would lose the ability to walk.

Her vision has gotten worse and she is constantly seeing double. Her speech is labored and she often has to take long pauses to express her thoughts.

This month, Lindy has undergone another lumbar puncture, endless MRIs, doctors have shaved a majority off her head to cut an Oreo-sized hole for another biopsy, and inserted a port in another section of her skull to release fluid causing pressure and pain.

Lindy has not complained during this ordeal. All she has done is fight. She has done everything doctors have asked of her. She has endured every needle in a vein, all the painful lumbar punctures, all the headaches, the drilling of her skull, and all the pain.

Her and her family need our help. They need us to rally and help them in this time of need. They would never ask for a thing on their own, so I am asking for them. I am asking for support during this time for the Wagners.

Thank you all for your consideration and anything helps!
