Lindsey's Cancer Journey

Donation protected
Hi, many of you know me, but for those who don’t, I am Shannon Williams, mother to Travis Pollock and mother-in-law to Lindsey. Honestly, Lindsey and I share a very close bond, more like best friends. I wanted to let you all know why I’m setting up this GoFundMe account. It’s something hard to ask for but is much needed in this hard and uncertain time.

Lindsey and Travis have spent several years dealing with fertility issues. It’s been a very long, hard journey for them, both emotionally and financially. These kids have wanted nothing more than to become parents. Well… our prayers have been answered. THEY ARE PREGNANT!! Lindsey will be 16 weeks this Thursday. While they, along with the rest of us, are absolutely over the moon with excitement and happiness, it unfortunately came with some not-so-good news. Lindsey, not long ago, felt something a little abnormal in her breast. She felt it best to get a mammogram just to be sure. That’s when we received the news she has Stage 3, Triple Negative Breast Cancer that has traveled to her lymph nodes under her arm. This was news no one ever expects to hear, especially after getting the wonderful news they’ve so longed to hear. On 4/23/25, Lindsey underwent surgery to remove the lymph nodes. Surgery was successful, but we soon found out that of the 27 lymph nodes that were removed, 15 were positive for cancer. While in surgery, her port for chemo was placed, and she currently has a drain. Hopefully, tomorrow the drain can be removed so she can start to heal in those areas. She is pretty sore and does not have a lot of range of motion in her arm but was told that is to be expected. She will have to undergo rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. It is unknown at this time how many of each. Chemo will start in the next few weeks. Radiation will be held off until the baby is here. From what I understand, they will induce Lindsey at 36 weeks. This is so she can start radiation sooner. They are wanting to do an Echo and another CT soon. A PET scan is what normally would be done, but it’s too dangerous for the baby. CTs aren’t the safest, especially in the second trimester, but again, better than a PET scan. They want to be sure that it hasn’t spread to any other areas. Her kind of cancer, unfortunately, likes to move to the liver. They want to be sure it hasn’t. Between seeing an OB, oncologist, cancer coordinator, surgeon, high-risk pregnancy doctor, and genetics, they are coming up with the best plan for Lindsey and the baby.

She has had many appointments, radiological tests, scans, labs, and surgery, along with medication she needs to take. And all this is adding up quickly, and she is just getting started. Lindsey has good insurance through her work, but as you know, insurance doesn’t pay for it all and wants to even deny things she desperately needs. She has been unable to work these past few weeks while recovering and will more than likely be off until the baby is here once chemotherapy starts. Travis just started a new job and has had to take time off without pay as well. Thank the good Lord the company he now works for is very understanding and is accommodating him so he can be at each and every appointment. I believe in the power of prayer and healing. I know Lindsey will come out of this just fine. She is a FIGHTER!! And this little one will be born safe and healthy. The bills are already coming in, and they are going to be ENORMOUS!

So with all that being said, I’m reaching out to each and every one of you. If you could find it in your heart to give whatever you can to help them, no amount is too small. I’m trying to take the overwhelming financial burden off of them so they can focus on what’s most important. Please keep them in your prayers. They have a long road ahead, but with all of us who love them, they got this! Thank you in advance to everyone who can help. Please pray for this sweet family.
