On January 6, 2015, Lindsey went into cardiac arrest and her boyfriend immediately called 911 and spent the next 5 minutes giving her CPR. Lindsey was rushed to The Ohio State University Ross Heart Hospital in critical condition and suffered anoxic brain injury. The first 72 hours were the most critical and challenging. It was an emotional roller coaster. One minute she was ok and the next we were told to give our good-byes. Lindsey spent the next two weeks in a medically induced coma. However, Lindsey's heart recovered and is functioning perfectly well. As the sedation wore off Lindsey showed no signs of brain function. The hospital could do nothing more and it was time she enter a rehabilitation faciity. On January 23, 2015 she was transported to a high observation rehabilitation center to continue the recovery process. Lindsey was at this facility for since March 9th and was showing improvement. She was beginning to react to stimulus and the physical therapy team were doing their best and had high hope. However, her insurance will no longer pay for the rehabilitation center. On March 9th, she was transported to a nursing home at the cost of the family. In less than 24 hours she found her way back to The Ohio State University Hospital in ICU. The nursing home failed to give her required medication on three occassions within the first 24 hours. She also developed pneumonia and has taken a major decline in her recovery. At this point it is unclear where she will land next. I am asking for assitance to help get Lindsey get the proper care she needs. Lindsey never met a stranger and loved everyone. She truly cared about every person she met and would do anything for anyone. This is such a tragic situation and she needs the best care and physical therapy to help her recover. She needs people that care and will do the physical therapy along with pushing her. She has minimal brain function but it could come back with help. There is so much more I can say, I truly love my best friend and want her back. There is a part of me that is just void right now.
