Some of you may know Lindsey and her story, but many of you may not. Lindsey is an amazing, hard working teenager. For the last five months she has been a boarder and working student at my farm. Her drive and determination are second to none.
Lindsey brought her little palimino gelding to my barn and spent six to seven days a week, between taking AP classes in high school and working part time at a restaurant, training him to the best of her abilities. Her goal was to train him, sell him, and get a new younger, taller horse to learn Eventing on.
Lindsey finally met that goal and a week ago we picked up a lovely four year old, bay, Thoroughbred gelding for her. This horse was everything she had dreamed of to help her climb the levels as she learned all she could about horse management and training between now and when she plans to leave our local barn and go work for a big name trainer somewhere when she turns eighteen.
Unfortunately she had to make the extremely tough decision to have her brand new horse euthanized last night. He was fighting something internal that presented similar to colic and was declining badly at the vet clinic. She never even got to ride him.
Luckily Lindsey had the support of her mother to help with the $2000+/- medical bills for the horse she lost. Unfortunately this large financial burden means she does not have the funds to replace her horse.
My husband, my father, and I decided to pitch in what we can to help Lindsey with a new horse fund. Some of my amazing boarders approached me about helping well, so I started this Go Fund Me page in case others would like to donate as well. Every cent donated will go straight to Lindsey. She can choose how to best use the funds for the purchase, maintainence, board, or bills on her next horse.
