Help Lindsey Bishop Rebuild After Hurricane Ian

Hi, my name is Samantha Lake and I am fundraising on behalf of my best friend of 24 years, Lindsey Bishop.

Lindsey has two properties on Pine Island, FL which were recently devastated after Hurricane Ian hit Florida. Lindsey and her family moved to Indiana during the height of Covid to be closer to family members, so thankfully they were not in Flordia during the hurricane, however when she moved back to Indiana she decided to rent out her primary residence, and the apartment over the garage, this has been serving as her sole source of income.

Ian's wrath not only brought high winds that severely damaged the roof of her house, but also shattered a window, move the air conditioner off of its foundation, and destroyed her shed, but the storm surge also caused significant flooding. Her house had 1 ft of water in it, so now all of the drywall needs to be removed before it causes severe mold issues).

Her tenants stayed in the house during the hurricane and are both ok, however, they both work in the restaurant industry and both of those restaurants were destroyed, so they have subsequently both lost their jobs.

Lindsey is allowing them to stay in the home rent-free until they find a place to go due to their loss.

The second property is an apartment above the garage and sustained a tremendous amount of damage. The roof was completely destroyed and the ceiling in the house is crashing down due to heavy rains and the garage below flooded. Additionally, all of the siding was ripped off that house.

On Friday, Oct. 7 Lindsey went to Pine Island to assess the damage and spent 9 hours cleaning up the property, she has done everything she is capable of, but now the reconstruction begins.

Her hurricane deductible for the property is $5,000 and the flood deductible is an additional $5,000. She has three children ages, 9, 2, and 4 months and doesn't have an extra $10,000 laying around. All money raised will go towards her insurance deductibles so that both homes can be repaired.
