Lindsay's Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
On December 13th, Lindsay aged just 36, suffered a basilar artery stroke due to a blood clot in her neck. Although her partner quickly rushed her to the hospital for surgery rapidly following the incident, her blood clot travelled to and affected the pons region of her brain, an area connected to her spinal cord. As a result, Lindsay is “locked in”, a condition in which she is cognizant and aware of her surroundings, but cannot move or speak. Lindsay requires intensive around-the-clock care and she will need a myriad of medical equipment to help her to be as autonomous as possible.
Lindsay is a beloved daughter, sister, partner and stepmother. She is loved beyond words and we are coming together as a family to ask for your help as insurance will not cover most of her ongoing costs. As we continue to navigate this crisis we’re asking for donations to ensure Lindsay receives the best medical care with the best chance to recover and regain her independence. For those who know Lindsay, you know that she is incredibly intelligent, thoughtful, outspoken, kind, independent and athletic. She drew a great deal of joy from exercise and her close relationships with her family and friends. She nurtured and cared for many people beginning at a very young age. Lindsay often used her voice to advocate for others when they were unable to, and now it’s our turn to do the same for her. As Lindsay's youngest sister, Kelsey, I am honoured to help her in any way that I can.
Lindsay's care including nurses, occupational, speech and other therapies costs the family around $670 per day with monthly costs amounting to $20,000.
